Thanks so much to all of those that attended the first TRMS Tech Clinic Session! In this session we learned how to access the Galileo databases and learned about what they have to offer to support the Common Core GPS. TRMS Tech Clinic

What is the TRMS Tech Clinic?

 

The TRMS Tech Clinic is a professional development opportunity for teachers at Taylor Road Middle School.  The TRMS Tech Clinic will be once a month, usually the last Friday of the month. The TRMS Tech Clinic will offer instruction and help with online resources and web 2.0 applications that are useful to teachers.

 

 

We will have our first TRMS Tech Clinic on Friday September 28th from 7:45-8:30 in the media center. The first session of the TRMS Tech Clinic will focus on how to use the Galileo databases to locate informational text to support the Common Core GPS.  http://www.smore.com/xpwh (flyer)

Strive for 25

 

Friday September 28th is the next due date for the Strive for 25. To receive your popcorn coupon the five books need to be read and signed by Friday September 28th. If you need a Strive for 25 tracking sheet you can get one in the media center.

 


TRMS Book Club 1st Meeting

We will have our first meeting of TRMS Book Club this Thursday September 20th at 8:00am in the media center. The TRMS Book Club is open to all interested students. The first book we will be reading is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Please see the media center staff for questions regarding the TRMS Book Club or to pick up a permission slip.

·        Over the past couple of weeks we have processed about 200 new books for the TRMS Media Center! Please stop by and check them out soon.

·        We had our first Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl meeting this morning. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is an academic bowl type of competition based on an award winning set of books. For this year's book list please click below. The reading bowl will usually meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8:00am in the media center. The county competition will be Saturday January 12th at 8:00am at Westlake High School. Students who didn't attend today may still participate in reading bowl.

·        We will have our first TRMS Book Club meeting on Thursday September 20th at 8:00am in the media center. The first book we will read is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. The TRMS Book Club will usually meet the 3rd Thursday of month at 8:00am in the media center.

121 Reach Tutoring

121 Reach Tutoring started last Thursday September 6th. If you are interested in being a part of the program we are still taking students. Please fill out the parental permission form below and return it to the media center. 121 Reach Tutoring is Monday and Thursday after school until 5:00. Students do not need to attend both days every week to be in the program. For more information visit the website below.

Atlanta Fulton Public Library eCampus

The Atlanta Fulton Public Library System has an eCampus that offers three useful resources for middle school students with a library card. First, it offers tutor.com. Tutor.com has homework help and one on one tutoring in all subject areas. It also offers Eprep, which is standardized test preparation and online video review. Finally, it offers Learn a Test Learning Express Library. The Learn a Test part of the eCampus offers math and reading help from elementary concepts through college concepts.
